ABOUT

My name is Eleonora Martorana, I'm an italian artist, painter and interior decorator living in Bristol, UK.
I started to draw and paint since I was a child and is what I love more.
After classical studies in 2006 I obtained my degree in painting at the "Academy of Fine Arts" in Rome and in 2008 the Master degree at the same Academy.
My  work currently focuses on the study of urban and industrial elements such as pylons, towers, machinery, construction sites, factories, abandoned or taken out of context, rendered in a poetic and evocative dimension.  The interest in these industrial landscapes comes from the deep ambivalence that characterizes them. They have been originated for our wellbeing, but they are soon transformed in human remains which need a soul and a memory. The love for the matter led me to works marked by experimentation (such as iron, sand, bronze leaf, burning, etc..). These consumed works are the traces of the self-destructive and chaotic beating of a society based on the consume of the land and its resources.
Since 2000 I exhibited in solo and group exhibitions.I have been selected for several exhibitions and my work had been published in  specialized art journal and art yearbook.

I worked for years as artist and interior decorator in a Studio in Rome where I also taught painting, decoration and ancient painting techniques.
I collaborated with architects and interior design as well as with private or public customers.
